For Labor Day weekend we headed to Asheville NC. The first weekend we arrived in North Carolina we were told about the apple festival and so we put it on our bucket list. It was Labor day weekend so we went to the apple festival on Saturday right after arriving. On Sunday we headed to Dupont State park to take some hikes to some waterfalls, at the visitors center we learned that they had taped the first Hunger Games there and we hiked to the waterfall where Peta was hiding in the movie. The hikes were beautiful. That evening while the kids were swimming at the hotel I met a lady who told us about some orchards that sold the same treats from the apple festival and where we could buy some more apples. So Monday after checkout we headed to Just Us orchards where we got some yummy treats and bought some more apples. On the way home we also drove through the ghost town where district 12 from the hunger games was filmed. It was a great weekend with beautiful views and yummy food.
