Pinewood Derby

On January 28th Stanton participated in his first pinewood derby. He had worked very hard on his car with some help from his dad and his Uncle Josh. It was a crisp January evening and everyone was in the church cultrual hall awaiting the beginning of the races. My stomach was in knots, you would think that I was the one racing.

All of the boys raced down the tracks six different times, using all of the tracks. Stanton took first in every race he was in. We nervously awaited times and the top three cars who would be racing against each other for the trophey. We were sure it would be two boys, Nathan Budge who was breaking track records for time and Matthon Ferrell. We figured Stanton would be close but was unsure of his time. When they announced the times and the top three we were thrilled to see that Stanton had taken third overall for time and he would be racing for the trophy. We told him how proud we were and that third place was wonderful for his first time. The first of the three races started and we were shocked when Stanton had the best time, perhaps it was a fluke, but at the end of the three races, which Stanton won all three, we were thrilled to see Stanton came out on top. So now we have to show up next year and Stanton will try hard to defend his 1st place title. We were so proud of him he worked so hard sanding, and painting his car. Congratulations Stanton, we love you!
